Record Store Day (2026) "Jubilee"

One of the most iconic punk record covers is that of the Sex Pistols' 1977 single "God Save The Queen," designed by artist Jamie Reid. It features a manipulated photograph of Queen Elizabeth II by Cecil Beaton, whose eyes and mouth are obscured by the song title and band name in a ransom note-like cutout.

While the artwork is legendary for obscuring the Queen's face, it differs from the frequently shared, separate video footage showing one of the Queen's guards fainting during the 1977 Jubilee procession. And it is precisely this historic snapshot that adorns the vinyl album cover of the Sex Pistols' "Jubilee" in 2002.

"Jubilee" was first pressed exclusively on vinyl and was a 2002 singles collection celebrating both the Sex Pistols' 25th anniversary and Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee.

The album's relaunch in 2026, on the occasion of the Pistols' 50th anniversary, also celebrates 50 years of punk rock.

Released exclusively on pink vinyl for the record store day, the vinyl album is split into two parts: When Johnny Rotten was part of the band, and the time afterward without him. The change is clearly noticeable, yet the musical quality remains consistent and authentic.

The album includes the Pistols' singles as well some rare gems: "Pretty Vacant (Live)" from the legendary 1996 "Filthy Lucre" reunion tour and an alternate version of "Silly Thing" featuring Steve Jones on vocals instead of Paul Cook.
