Venice is not only a beautiful lagoon city in Italy, but also the home of various universities, such as the Ca' Foscari University of Venice (UNIVE) or the Venice International University (VIU), which is a consortium of universities offering joint programs.

This also means that there are approximately 27,000 students in Venice, which might explain why there are a couple of very nice second-hand shops in town. As I learned in a conversation with a shop owner, many students buy their clothes cheaply in charity shops, but also bring their own clothes for sale.
