Raffia Bucket Hat

 

Yes, my dears, it's that time of the year! Summer!! 

The favorite season for many, and perhaps a nightmare for just as many. 

But no matter how we feel about summer, we all have to adapt our wardrobe to the warmer temperatures. 

I can honestly say that I've never been a fashion victim. I've never cared about what's "in" or what people are wearing where. 

However, one summer accessory keeps catching my eye this year:

Designer Raffia Bucket hats 

I just have one burning question: Are they available in black? 

Well, not from most designers this season (the trend for natural raffia color is taking over), but summer bucket hats are generally available in other colors and at different prices.

In winter, I'm a real hat lady. I never go out without a beret, hat, or beanie, but for summer, I actually only have one hat, which I hardly ever wear.

I bought the black raffia fedora hat in 2022 and then realized that it didn't go with as many outfits as I had hoped. Vivienne was right: Everybody's buying far too many clothes and this purchase was definitely a wrong decision. 

I know that you can steam-shape wool and felt hats, and who knows, maybe you can do the same with raffia if you're careful!?

Well, guess what!? You can!
I first cut off the hatband with scissors and then carefully sprayed the fedora with lukewarm water. Then I pulled the straw hat over my glass head, pulled it into shape and let it dry overnight. 

A safety pin with pearls (or any type of brooches) as decoration... And Bam! That's it.

It was so easy to give the fedora a new life and on top I now have a summer raffia bucket hat.

Perfect!
