Upgrade For My Harris Tweed Bag
Harris Tweed
❝ For centuries, the islanders of Lewis and Harris, the Uists, Benbecula, and Barra hand-woven cloth known as Clò-mòr (literally, "great cloth" in Scottish Gaelic). Originally woven by crofters, these fabrics served personal and practical purposes and provided ideal protection against the often cold climate of northern Scotland.❞ (Wikipedia)
I totally love checks, tartan and tweed, but I first became aware of this particular label through Vivienne Westwood's reinterpretation of the fabric in her collections.
I can't imagine more versatile natural fabrics that are both conservative and avant-garde. And timeless Harris Tweed is also relatively affordable. That's why I bought this blue checked Harris Tweed toiletry bag from Vagabond at a very reasonable price on Amazon.
Spring is just around the corner, but even May has its days when you still need a somewhat warm outfit, especially for a scooter ride in the countryside.
Harris Tweed is definitely on board.
Upgrade for my Harris Tweed Bag
The tweed bag looks very fashionable, but I wanted to give it some stability at the bottom, and add a personal touch.
I measured the bottom of the bag, cut a thin foam sheet to size and attached it with screw-back feet for purses.
I also added blue PU leather handles to protect the wool fabric and a cute tone on tone Vivienne Westwood handkerchief adorned with a selection hand-drawn archival motifs.
How to do a Vivienne Westwood handkerchief Bow
I use small clear hair ties to secure the bow and attached it to the bag with a safety pin. But if you want a permanent solution, you can of course also secure the bow with a few stitches and sew it to the bag.
In addition I found this coronation crown key ring that I'm going to use as a bag charm, simply because it is so beautifully British.

Doesn't this lovely Tweed bag look like it was designed by The Dame herself?
