ROASTED WALNUTS!
Today I'm going to share with you how to make roasted walnuts yourself - in roughly one hour. They are a lovely little homemade gift for your family and friends for Christmas (but not only).
Ingredients:
200g whole walnut halves
120g white sugar
120ml water
And an additional 80ml water for the finish
Preparation:
Boil the sugar and water over a high heat. When they start to turn light brown, add the walnuts. Turn the heat down a little.
Now roll the walnuts in the mixture, stirring constantly (approx. 20 min).
At first the walnuts will certainly look a little ‘sugary’ – that is, they will have a dull colour (sugar coating). Now let's make them nice and shiny: when the walnuts have their sugar coating, add the remaining 80ml of water. Be careful – it will sizzle. Roll the walnuts in the pan until they are shiny and most of the water has evaporated. The walnuts should not be clumped together. Spread them out well and allow them to cool. By the way, I keep and collect beautiful jars and glass containers (this one is from a candle) and I think the roasted walnuts look nice in them.
Enjoy...
