Belonging to the Goth culture means taking an unconventional path in fashion, which, however, also have to fit well with everyday life.  However, I don't like to do without black completely, and love to incorporate unconventional key pieces into my daily outfit. Tabi boots are the most comfortable boots I bought last year and I love wearing them - like today - with tulle skirts.

Design-wise, the split toe cap was inspired by traditional Japanese socks from the 15th century.

This for us very unusual form of slipper was once reserved for the Japanese idle elite, but when the cotton routes to China opened up and the rubber sole was finally added, the "Tabi" - or "Jika-Tabi" - became the standard footwear for workers.

Many modern lbrands have dedicated themselves to reinterpreting the Tabi. They are available as loafers and ballerinas, but for me as a boot lover, of course only boots were eligible.
Some models come with a zipper, but mine have the traditional closure made of metal tabs.
Opinions differ about the aesthetics of the tabi boots, but for me they are a comfortable companion and an eye-catcher in the boring everyday mush.
